LEGO set: Lotus Flowers (40647)

LEGO’s pink and white Lotus Flowers set is my second favorite of the small individual flower sets. (My favorite is LEGO’s red Roses.) I was surprised at how organic and curvy these flowers look without using many specialized parts.

And I absolutely love the textured yellow centers — just like a lotus flower!

That pointed, curved bud is so simple, but so well-built, too.

The low price point of the individual flower sets is a great way to try out LEGO’s botanical sets and see if you enjoy building and displaying them. They’re great for a small gift, too. The only trick is that they’re LEGO exclusives, so you’ll have to buy them from LEGO.com (that’s the US link) or from your local LEGO store.

As with the Roses, I built a simple vase for my lotus flowers. They look great with the other flowers too, but I like the simple elegance of these on their own. Instructions for the vase coming soon! For now, check out the simplest colorblock vase I built for the roses — it will work great for these too, if you like that style.
