about

A smirking LEGO minifig with classic yellow skin and long lavender hair holds a plant stem with six colorful five-petalled flowers. She is wearing a striped shirt, black leather jacket, gray pants, and black boots. She stands on a light wood floor in front of a light gray canvas wall.

Hello! My name is Kelly, and I go by curiofloris on Flickr, LEGO Ideas, and other parts of the brick-built world.

I loved building with LEGO as a kid. (My brother and I had the yellow Castle (375/6075) and a few classic space sets.)

I came back into LEGO occasionally as an adult, buying and building sets like Research Institute (21110) and Women of NASA (21312). But although my husband enjoyed LEGO, the main themes didn’t interest me enough to get me building again.

Until… he bought me the Flower Bouquet (10280) on a whim.

Two classic yellow LEGO minifigs stand together: a woman with lavender hair and a man with glasses and a dark orange mustache, goatee, and hair. The woman holds a bouquet of flowers. The man wears a classic space helmet shirt.

I love flowers and gardening, and I loved building them too! I’ve been building the Botanical sets ever since, along with flower-related SECs (Someone Else’s Creations), and even my own MOCs (My Own Creations) occasionally. I do build other sets now too, but the flowers and plants are still my favorites.

see my work on the LEGO Ideas platform!

Now, my husband and I collect, sort, and sometimes even build together, and our Seattle-area home has a rotating gallery of our favorite builds on display. It’s been fun to have this shared hobby (even if we don’t always have exactly the same views on how to sort our shared collection!)
