My LEGO Orchid is one of my favorite botanical sets, so when I spotted the pieces in a bulk buy from an online thrift store, I decided to build a different color variation: white and green! (Lime or yellowish green petals with white center parts are more common, but I’m working with the part colors that LEGO has in production.)
I replaced the ice cream swirl small buds with white ones, and the modified demigorgon heads with plain white mining head buds. Not as cool of a NPU (Nice Part Usage), but it works, and they come in the set! I didn’t have many flower parts to replace either — this one was pretty simple. (Here’s the Orchid part inventory on Rebrickable. PSA: creating a free account and logging in will get rid of those annoying ads! I use this site all the time.)
I made a few minimal changes to the stems and flower placement so the overall plants wouldn’t look exactly the same, but I could do more tweaking here. (I didn’t add any new parts for this.)
It was a fun, quick way to bring my own style to a LEGO set! I love building new colors of LEGO’s botanical sets — it’s been a great way for me to ease into building my own MOCs in a low-key way, and have even more brick-built plants and flowers. Plus, I can often use most of the original set’s parts, with only a few new parts needed.
Here’s my new white and green LEGO orchid with my Succulents set, currently built in Ss3nse’s Succulents in a Pot SEC! Don’t be afraid to make a few changes of your own!
Happy flower building!
