The bird of paradise isn’t one of my favorite plants, so I was a little surprised at how much I love the botanical LEGO set version! (Not to mention nice part usage like the dark purple fencing foils in the flowers.)The potted brick-built plant has an architectural elegance I find beautiful, and the scale is much smaller than an actual plant.
Here it is with the Orchid set, for scale. I like how the color palettes look together, and although they’re built at different scales, I think they make a lovely display.
Before I bought it, I wondered if I could use the flowers and leaves from the Bird of Paradise with my Flower Bouquet set, as “cut flowers”?
Here they are without any modifications in the white brick vase I use for my Flower Bouquet and Wildflower Bouquet sets, with a gerbera daisy from the Wildflower Bouquet for scale. I’d probably make a few modifications to the bird of paradise stems if I wanted to display them this way, adding some straight sections and taking out some curved ones, or building a different vase. But yes, it should be possible!
Here’s a few more photos of mine. If you’re intrigued by the Bird of Paradise set, you might want to pick it up soon — it’s rumored to retire in December 2023.
Happy flower building!
(My Succulents set is built in Ss3nse’s Succulents in a Pot MOC, from the instructions on Rebrickable.)
